UNESCO Headquarters in Paris mark the 100th anniversary of the Kazakh composer Akhmet Zhubanov (1906-68) at a gala concert on 17 October.The concert programme will feature compositions of Mr Zhubanov, who was an advocate of traditional nomadic music, the farther of the first Kazakhstani opera, and the founding farther of the Kazakhstan National Orchestra.
The performing artists will be from traditional dance and song groups together with the Kurmangazy Orchestra of Traditional National Instruments.
Mr Olzhas Suleimenov, who is serving as Kazakhstan's Ambassador and Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, will host the gala together with UNESCO's Director-General Mr Koichiro Matsuura.
